Episode 115 – Tomas Oliva

Today I had the opportunity to talk to El Centro City Council member, Mr. Tomas Oliva.  Although I could talk to Tomas for hours about local politics or politics in general for ours in today’s episode we focused on the conversation on something else that’s been affecting the Imperial Valley and the country as well.  On October 30th the City of El Centro had a city council meeting and one of the presentations on this day was about COVID-19 and how it’s affected the valley and how numbers are going up not only county-wide but nationally.  In this same presentation, they talked about the clinical trial for one of the COVID-19 vaccines that were going to be taking part here in the valley.  When I first saw the presentation I thought about taking part in the clinical trial but I wasn’t too sure.  Later that night I was browsing Instagram and I see a post by Tomas where he let his followers know that he had decided to take part in the trial and why he did.  After seeing that Tomas decided to take part in the trial it gave me a little more confidence in the safety of the vaccine and I decided to take part in the study too.  In episode 115 Tomas and I talk about our experience with the study, what made us decide to take part in the study, and many other things COVID-19 related.  If you are interested in taking part in the vaccine clinical trial or want more information regarding the trial visits the COVID-19 Prevention Network website.  Huge thanks to my Anchor Sponsors Camilo Garcia, Jake, Sergio Armenta, Dents on Border, Castillo Bookkeeping, Sergio’s Tacos and Hotdogs, and David Gastelum.
