Today I had the opportunity to talk to the Assistant Director of the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert, Ms. Melissa Lizarraga. I think most of us in the Imperial Valley have heard of the CRCD and I think most of us don’t really know much of what they do, but unfortunately, some of us might know the wonderful work they do because someone in our family or friends has been affected by cancer and has visited CRCD. Being diagnosed with cancer can be a life-changing experience, the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert is an amazing resource and guiding light to help you through your journey in your fight with cancer. The CRCD is a non-profit so they depend on grants, fundraisers, and community donations. They do have a lot of help from our community whether through donations or just volunteering. One of the many amazing things about the CRCD is that all of their employees have masters in social work and are well prepared to deal with their patients. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer and is in need of help with anything related to a cancer diagnosis please contact or refer them to the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert they offer help with many things you may encounter when dealing with cancer like gas money, lodging, bills, paperwork to name a few. Follow the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert on Instagram, Facebook, and visit their website. Once we can get back to normal I know the CRCD might be in need of some volunteers so if you want to help make sure you follow their social media.
