In today’s episode, I had the opportunity to talk to a local educator and fellow podcaster, my guest for episode 113 is the host of the EDU with You Podcast, Mr. Michael Anthony Garcia. Growing up in the Imperial Valley teacher was not on Michael’s plans, in his twenties he went to college wanting to get into marketing and design. It was here when he started his own clothing company with one of his best friends at the time. Going to college and running a small business proved a bit too demanding. After taking a stab at entrepreneurship he got a job at a local Marriott in the sales department, after a while he was faced with the decision of deciding to move his family in order to move up in the company but it was something that was not beneficial for the family as a whole. While working at the Marriot he found he had this skill of teaching others, he often found himself teaching new hires the way around the computer system and it was something he really enjoyed. This made him go and get his teaching credential and his now on his 6th year of teaching. He’s thought 4 years of 4th grade, 3 years of STEM and he’s on his first year teaching CTE business and finance. Like a lot of us the pandemic has given us some free time to explore other interests, Michael has always been creative and he’s been wanting to work on something where he could be creative and helpful at the same time.
