In today’s episode, I had the pleasure to talk to one of the six candidates running for one of the three open spots for El Centro City Council and one of 34 women running for office in the Imperial Valley, Mrs. Martha Cardenas-Singh. She is a lifelong El Centro resident who has been involved in our community in many ways. She is currently the president for MANA De Imperial Valley, she is the treasurer for Vo Neighborhood Medical Clinic among other things. Growing up she remembers her father working for the City of El Centro and how he wore his orange uniform shirt with pride. Her brother was also a city council member for the City of El Centro in the past so she has some history in serving the City of El Centro. Despite the hard times ahead, she feels like she’s ready to lead the city of El Centro gets past these hard times. Like every city in the valley, the downtown area in El Centro needs some help and Martha would like to revitalize it and bring some life to it.
