Today I had the pleasure of visiting this place a lot of us who live in the Imperial Valley or people just driving through the valley whether going up the hill or coming down we see this place located right smack in the middle of interstate 8 and highway 98, the Imperial Valley Desert Museum. This was my first time visiting the museum, I walked around a learned a lot about the Imperial Valley and the indigenous people who lived here way before we did. I then had the chance to talk to Kristin O’Lear ( lead curator ) and Luis Landeros ( Education Coordinator ) we talked about the museums exhibits, events and how they had to adjust during the pandemic. One thing I noticed while talking to both Kristin and Luis is that they love their job and have a passion for educating our community or anyone who visits the museum about the valley’s history and they also have a huge respect to the indigenous people from our area and their traditions!
